No Compassion
posted March 22nd, 2019 at 7:56 PM
I ride the 95 B-line to and from work. It goes through the downtown east side where you see people hussling and struggling. I hate hearing young men yelling out loud to each other and pointing:
"Look at them all"
"Damn imagine just getting dropped off here"
"no man no thanks"
"Look there's so many of them"
Yes you're privileged (congratulations) but have a little compassion for other human beings. Be a better human!

...fuck that. Have you ever heard how they view people like you? With disdain. Anyone with an apartment, a paycheck...geez, even clean clothes...is looked at as the 1 %, and they will let you know if you dare get off that bus. They are filled with hate, hate for anyone not poor as they, and think society owes them free everything and takes pride in getting as much for little as possible. They have no interest in making their lives better, and thrive in desperation and decay. Many excuses, little ambition. No compassion for each other, none for those who tirelessly try to help them (or, really, those who profit from their poverty) and definitely none for people like you. The lack of appreciation and ugliness within manifests into what is around them. It's repugnant and sad. Compassion goes there to die.

Have more compassion in first world countries and that's just a fact

Exposure to this forum has destroyed any empathy I may have had for the inmates of the LM. It's all just undifferentiated noise now. The bedlam no longer troubles me.
Thanks, GSC. So very helpful, this newfound sense of complete detachment.
Now, I read about delusion, pain, anxiety and fear and it makes me happy.
Messed up, I know. But I take my pleasures where I find them.

Remind them that all of them are someone's son, daughter, mother, father etc. But even more important, let them know it could be,
" YOUR " daughter, mother, father, etc.
But could also be you.
Some may get it some may not but when I used to point that out to the unknowing, or just the plain ignorant, the bus became very quiet.
Good Luck

This is why I carry headphones on my morning town ride. Try it sometime! Forget about those immature losers.

Yes you are more "compassionate" in your mind than everyone else...we get it.
I’m getting so tired

Of the over use of the word “privilege”. So now, working hard, choosing NOT to use/become addicted to drugs & alcohol makes one “privileged”. Mmmmmk.

I have no patience for ignorant dough-heads like the one above who constantly repeated "they" this and "they" that and "them." Well they and them could be your brother or your sister. You could be just one medical or economic calamity from becoming one of "them." Things are just so sickingly unequal in this city it is puke-worthy. Multi-million dollar houses, $500,000 cars, impossible rents for working people, etc., etc.. And then there are people like the poster above who has a job and looks down on people with less than him as some kind of "other" or inferior being. That's who makes me sick to my stomach.
With no respect to you......you know nothing

You ignorant douche , there are a lot of good people in the DTES, it's the least judgemental place in Vancouver , people don't judge you on your clothing , ethnicity , medical condition , how you look , or addiction. There a lot of working people here , seniors. Most of the charities here are staffed by blue collar volunteers. As far as compassion ,i've seen people you would sneer at helping the elderly , handicapped folks. I have fallen in the DTES and men and women have helped me. A few months ago , i fell on Robson st and people walked around me..........so go fuck yourself and dream about licking Trumps asshole, asshole
