What's the best way

to get over someone? Age old question I know but I'm having trouble with it. I moved here last spring, met someone , had some great times but now that spring is coming again and I'm outside on my same balcony arranging plants and having wine like we used to do , but now I'm alone and all the memories of last spring are back and I still feel sad. I don't want these memories to ruin how nice spring should feel.

There's only one way. You have to let time take its healing course and in time, you will begin to feel better.

You sound like you're still in the opening stages which will take you 6 months.

I think it depends on how long you were together. My guy and I were together for a long time, and being outside together was a big part of our life. So now I don’t really want to sit out there alone and last year I barely used my outside space. Hopefully you’ll feel better soon and so will I.

Move on

Just forget about that person and move on. Another way to erase it from your mind is not to look them up on social media, otherwise it will make you miserable, bitter and depressed. Life goes on.

Honestly....

I don't believe you ever do get over someone you truly loved with all your heart. I don't think you're even supposed to, because true love is meant and built to last. Sure we can deny it, and we do. We can tell ourselves lies, and rationalize for those fleeting moments of peace, where we just can focus on ourselves, but in the end it's like struggling to keep the lid on Pandora's box.

If you hadn't truly and fully loved someone, then you could probably get over it. But if you did, then no. You just have to keep rationalizing, and distracting for better moments here and there.

It's very unfair that sadness seems to make the time pass so slowly, as joy makes it go by way too fast.

That's what I did.
Living each day surrounded by constant reminders of my past relationship makes it impossible for me to move on.
The best way to move on is to move.
I think of them still. But it was intolerable to continue among echoes of what might have been.
"If only" is not a four-letter word, but it should be.
