Civil Forfeiture is the Superior Justice System

I love civil forfeiture. Take everything away from everyone who can't prove how they got the money to buy it. Most of the people going to prison aren't going to gain anything from it. Just impoverish them in a public ritual and start doing the same to the white collar criminals. Fire the judges and use their salaries for more CRA investigators. I think we know who the real criminals in society are.

New level unlocked

This is now officially the dumbest thing I've read this year. Anywhere.
And that includes The Duhnald's offerings. He was the previous champion, obviously.

The CRA is tyrannical, incompetent, politicized and corrupt. Again, obviously. The agency failed both an external review and its own internal audit. It has an awful reputation for terrible service, poor grasp of accounting principles, and chronic abuses of power. Even the retired CRA auditor I worked with, had nothing good to say.
Civil forfeiture has an absolutely appalling track record. Even a cursory read of its long history of abuses is enough to "shock the conscience". Ubiquitous in the US for decades (because every government at every level is broke), this instrument is the new Divine Right of Kings. They're not taking the Droit du Seigneur yet, but I'm sure that will come in time.
When I read stuff like this, it adds urgency to my moving plans. Sh*t is getting scary.

If you're so obsessed with cheating on your taxes, LEAVE THIS COUNTRY.

What a great idea

Incarceration doesn't work for most crime (although locking up violent offenders and murderers keeps streets safe), and the only thing that seems to be a deterrent is when steep fines and wage garnishment is involved. I move for more of this. Steep cash consequences for bad behavior.
