Seriously?

People who write messages on social media about 'acceptance' in this political climate need to check themselves. It's fine to say that people come from all walks of life and have unique experiences; this is true. But don't you DARE do that when you're talking about politicians who are unabashedly anti-gay and sexist. Anyone who supports that sort of idiocy deserves to be shit on. Period.

Well it works both ways...Calling everyone from Alberta a truck driving inbred uneducated bigoted redneck doesn't help foster acceptance.

In fact OP...

You are the dangerous one here, along with those like you, in demanding that people with opinions that differ from your own get shut down. The hypocrisy and irony in your ideology is astounding. A grade-schooler could see that.

Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, TRUMP... see where this is going?

I’m like you, I believe in equality and human rights across the board. And underlying that little nugget is something imperative, and that is the right for all of us to have our own thoughts, beliefs and morals, along with the personal agency and freedom to hold those beliefs. And we all get to throw them into the hat. If you don’t like the beliefs and morals of others, then Debate, argue, shout and scream if you like... but NOBODY gets left out. We all get a say. Even you with this post. I wholeheartedly disagree with what you’re saying, but I’d go to war in defence of you being allowed to say it.

Or in other words, you love democracy so long as only things you agree with are discussed.

No need to shout (caps) and get batshit angry. How about a calm discussion without trying to shut down other people's opinion? You come across as aggressive and intolerant. Not a good impression if you want others to be on your side. You don't "bully" people into agreeing with you, you use reason and arguments to convince them.

Acceptance is the wrong target

There are far too many things and viewpoints in the world to accept them all. Some are diametrically opposed (e.g. belief and atheism). "Accept" is an impossible AND UNDESIRABLE standard.

"Tolerance" is much, much better. It means that I can disagree and not like something, while conceding that it has a right to be here and that other people can like it just fine.

Tolerance allows other people to be different from me. Therefore, I am allowed to be different from THEM.

Get how that works????
