too old? too anal?

I live in the Westend near a daycare center. I constantly hear a car doors honk to signal to the owner to absolutely ensure that his/her doors are indeed locked..twice a day, each day M-F. Where do these people live? that they just believe that their horns are music to other peoples ears? 7am-5pm. Do they not have other options such as a click or the ability to visually check to ensure their doors are indeed locked. I guess that these new fangled machines only have a haaawnk sound for those from outta town.

How old are you exactly?

I’m a senior and even I know that every car now has a horn sound to alert the owner that it’s locked. I agree that it’s very annoying and that too many are way too loud, but that’s the world we live in, and no, we can’t choose a different noise as far as I know

Well....

Most cars just automatically honk when you hit the door lock on the handheld remote device. My car would honk after I locked the doors from the inside and shut them myself and I didn’t even have a remote device.

Could be worse

I used to live across from a trashy rental building. Every weekend in the summer, this one family would throw these big loud parties. At some point the kids would inevitably get a hold of the car keys, and spend the evening setting off the car alarm every five minutes. Sometimes into the wee AM hours. The parents obviously didn’t give a rip, probably reveled in being a disruption.

Ignorance

As the comments suggest, people do not realize that you can turn the honk off when locking the vehicle doors. I guess that no one reads the owners manuals. The 10 year old van I bought still had the honk/lock on, so I read the manual and it took 2 min to turn the honk off.

it's seniors for sure

They're convinced that they have to hear the horn or else the doors aren't locked/alarm isn't activated. It's even more fun when they mistakenly set off the alarm and can't figure out how to turn it off.

But don't be surprised if one day you're the one annoying young people because you can't figure out the new technology.
