I must be "entitled" for believing that I deserve to afford to live comfortably working 40 hrs a week.

Dan offers some advice on where she might find it.
You were sitting by yourself & you ordered a few Curry Fish Balls and a few deep-fried Spring...

I love Uber and Lift convince people they're savvy entrepreneurs because driving is their "side gig". Side gig sounds soooo cooool. Like you're a cool musician or some BS. Our parents just got up and went to work for 40 hours a week, owned homes etc... WTF is going on that everything has gotten astronomically expensive. Greed that's what. The profit margins will never be enough for corporations and developers.

AirBnb too. We aren't far from a time where if you aren't sharing your clothing, desk, or bed you're not being money wise. Keep the rats competing for crumbs so they can't see the walls.
The word deserve

gets thrown around in a lot of contexts. If you are a good person, does that mean you "deserve" to not have hardships like illness, family tragedy, etc.
I'm afraid

Not here.

Naturally occurring hardships have nothing to do with what a person deserves whether it be for good or bad. People that are imposing hardship on to others to suit their own greed deserve much less than what they get away with.

That is a type of entitlement. "Comfort" isn't a quantifiable term; it could mean something different to you. Does your comfort include luxury things and regular restaurant outings?

If you work 40 hrs a week at a job that doesn't pay well....no you do not "deserve" to live comfortably.

You chose to live in one of the most expensive cities in the world. For decades politicians have been bragging about turning Vancouver into a 'world class' this and a 'world class' that. It wasn't like people were not warned. Photo ops of our Mayor and Premier traveling the world to cut back room deals were all over the media. You could live like a king on the same amount of money somewhere else. Go be a big fish in a smaller pond.
