Invisible

I often check Missed Connections and I Saw You’s, hoping beyond hope that one day somebody, anybody might notice me. I know it’s irrational, borderline narcissistic and a complete waste of time, because it will never happen. But if I couldn’t see myself, I would swear I’m transparent.

Pretend that you're that hot person who's just aching to jump your bones.

I don't need anyone to make me feel special. I learn to love myself. You'll never be happy if you keep waiting for others to validate who you are. I Saw Yous are all superficial anyway. It's mostly just about looks. I never read, and whenever one catches my eye by accident, it makes me laugh because the message is usually cheesy.

I feel invisible here too. I think it’s a Vancouver phenomenon.

It sounds like I’m looking for validation, but it’s not that. Actually in the past few years I’ve come to a very good place with myself. I’m more self actualized, well established and content than ever. For the first time in ages I feel like I’m worthy of being noticed. Its just that trying to find any kind of mutual attraction while out in public in this city, seems like a losing proposition

An average guy, not tall nor rich with status nor inheriting a West Side house when your parents kick the bucket, this is about all one can hope for.

It is as strange as this one, in that it too seems to know you.

It's mostly a multilevel buzzkill.
Start with the stereotypical "your cute". Ugh. It's you-apostrophe-are, and if they don't know how to use it, spell it out - "you are". It hurts less.
And then there's everything else - lack of nerve, complacency, unwillingness to seize the moment, absence of urgency, risk aversion... Not impressive.
I understand if the context is awkward, legally problematic or otherwise impractical. Still, fairly legit to offer a simple handwritten note (on the back of a receipt, perhaps) to the tone of "are you intrigued, or just friendly and polite?"
Seize your opportunity or be damned, I say. For many reasons, most of the postings there are not worthwhile (ditto CL-MC).
