18 Months Sober

It’s drinking on patios season, and I’ve been going through a rough patch. The temptation is strong. But I’m not going to cave. My health and wellbeing are worth fighting for.

I've sobered up a few times after long substance abuses. the first time I did, I realized I had so many mannerisms I used to get sober that there was so much of sober life of myself I hated. I didn't date the entire time I was sober. relapsed and was in my first relationship in years. sobered up again, no relationships.
there's also no one to talk to about being sober once you are sober. especially when feeling weak. when sobering up, it's easy to blame mistakes on abuses, but when sober long enough, can't blame the substances.
etc....
good luck.

Temptation is your true test of internal mental and spiritual strength. You've got this!! Any time it comes up.. you need to visualize a box with the lid popping open , and remove the thought and visualize putting it back in tbe box and closing the lid. You might need to try this a few times to notice the positive affects.
Keep at it. I have faith in you.
It’s gets better

Good luck and good work staying sober. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.

Yes... you really can do it. Many people that address these issues are far stronger than those that never had to... you are a strong person.
Good on ya!

18 months is a serious accomplishment. A tip o' the hat. Best decision I made too.

Too bad people cant just rely on eachother and not have to retreat to a substance, whatever that may be.
Fuck Booze!

I’m a third of the way to where you are and I have no desire to drink at all. Congrats on keeping it up! I hope I can too.
