Not Fair

I am at a job that's boys club that I am not a part of. Its hard to explain but the guys play poker together on weeknights and they entertain clients at strip clubs. I have never been invited to play poker or invited to entertain clients. I am not o.k. with the strip club part but I could entertain them at Starbucks or Red Robin. It really bothers me because they hired someone new and they initiated him by getting him black out drunk. Now he's invited to everything and one of the guys. I am in the same department but have not been invited to these events. I am invited to all the women's events with the Admin Staff and Accounting Staff. Anytime I am around its like they're on their best behavior but the minute I leave I hear fart noises and all the guys laughing. I am a cool girl and I have two older brothers so I know a fart noise when I hear one. I just think this is blatant sexism and I am thinking about going to a Lawyer about this. In the workplace everyone should be treated equally and have the same opportunities despite their sex and whats happening to me is just plain wrong.

... go to Big Brother the Lawyer and have him break these guys' kneecaps.

You're exactly what's wrong with the world.

I'm a guy, I've never been included in any of this guy stuff bullshit, it's not like it's a boys club, it's "those boys' club."

Get over it

You sound like you will just ruin the fun they are having.

Turning out well for you.
You dont have strong grounds and if it does turn into something you will be fired. I am sure it must be frustrating but not everyone gets everything.

Trust me

You don’t want to be a part of that club. Fart noises?

Troll alert

This workplace does not exist, at least certainly not in this country where everything is hemmed in by the rulebook of political correctness, for fear of triggering a lawsuit. No company that cares about its own survival would allow these things to happen. It's too risky. Too many whistleblowers and busybodies on social media. Leaks and leakers everywhere.

This confusion

was written by a guy.

That would bug me too

However, it sounds like the only way to get in with those guys is to be vulgar and you shouldn’t have to do that to be “cool”. They likely respect you and that’s why they don’t act like that around you or invite you to things. You should try not to let it bug you. You’d likely get bored of being around them after a while anyway.

Smart Guys

Don't involve women.
You'd be offended by an off colour joke or behaviour, run to HR about sexual harassment, get a fat check for your "suffering" and get those guys fired and lives ruined.

@Troll: This does exist, and has at 3 of 4 companies I have worked at. The one was 90% women,i only stayed a month as the environment was toxic.
We just don't include any female employees in our Friday night adventures, Saturday BBQs, firing range and go kart races.
See the first paragraph for the reason why.

Jeez

I wonder why they wouldn’t include you?

Interesting

This was an interesting read. At first, I thought you were a guy and I felt SO bad for you, that would be just seriously horrible. Also, it IS seriously horrible for you, no matter what the other comments say. I GET IT! I was in the same position as you. Actually, it was worse. I must tell you, it will never get better, and going to a lawyer because they don't include you, no. BUT going because they sexually harras you. Yes. If they don't you should just leave. I promise this will help you mentally. These offices as real, and the DB's are EVERYWHERE. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if you worked in the same office but the sounds of it. Big Hugs OP. Just be thankful you're not the wife of one of these knuckle draggers.
