misanthrope, especially in my old age.
Very solitary, almost hermit-like existence these days but I’m also more at peace and content than ever.
A couple of friends I see now and then but mostly it’s just me, myself and I.

I am the same. I have a partner but no kids and am 40 years old. Maybe not "old age" but LOVE the peace! I see people when I want to but besides that totally content to hermit. Ahhhh
Same with me

I'm an emotional destructive a**hole. Any time i get lonely, i look in the mirror and say "you're lonely, but you aren't f*cking anyone elses life up..."
and then go for a nature filled bike ride.
you sound defeated

Hermit, yes. On a hard day, maybe even a curmudgeon.
You're way too detached and indifferent for misanthropy. And positive, too.
Misanthropes have more intensity. The sort of person who'd wish that a bicyclist be hit by a truck. Or that Giant Meteor Day comes early. Or that Yellowstone pops off. Or the Big One drops Vancouver into the drink. Or that atomic weapons recycle us all into dust, setting the biosphere back to zero.
If you don't succeed at first, time for a hundred-million-year do-over.
Humans built a cheap, tacky, impulse-driven, mindless, consumption-focused civilization. It still takes decades to bring a technology from the lab to mass utilization. And as a result, we're destroying everything around us, like so many free-range termites. The clouds are snowing microplastics in the Arctic.
Hell, it's been sixty years since human tech first reached the moon, and we don't even have a moonbase yet.
This is not a compelling success story.
Such are the thoughts of a misanthrope. Doesn't sound like anybody here.
As everything else about Van, even the haters are bush-league.
Me too!

And I love it...I have a few good friends that I see from time to time, but I like being in my own space.

Sadly, even the hater wannabes are bush-league.
