I deserve my misery

I met a cute girl in Ontario in '88 in my 20s (everyone's cute in their 20s). We moved to Van; she was one of the rare ones & never liked it here unlike me. When she was studying in TO, she asked me to move there, I said forget about it and ended a 20 year union. Then I met an amazing girl who was still married but her husband was more like a father to her. She separated from him and we had a lot of fun together for 8 years; she was perfect for me. But she never could divorce him & marry me; so I ended that one too. Now I'm lonely in my 50s for 2 years now with bleak prospects of ever meeting another partner suited to me. Life is a series of choices and I know I deserve my predicament. I'm still youthful & healthy but that doesn't seem to matter. My sense of purpose is slowly withering away...

Healthy people never appreciate how much health matters. I'm thankful I'm closer to being free of all of you.

Yeah well...

....one of those made your bed types of scenarios. If you live your life making decisions based only on what feels good right then, with little thought to the future, chances are you’re also going to live to regret some of them. All you can do now is try to learn from the past and move on.

I'll play you my violin.

I get that you're feeling lonely, but if you're going to allow something as trivial as a relationship status to dictate whether or not you're going to be happy in your life, then it's always been your destiny to be miserable, regardless of what you may or may not deserve.

asking the Universe (or whatever anthropomorphic name us humans come up with to describe the God archetype) ... Have you tried asking for your basic need for family to be met? It worked for me ............ ps: don't ask for what you want. Ask for what you need.

How very superficial of you.
And yet you seem to understand the shallow, cynical reality of Vancouver. So either you belong here, or you remain in spite of it. Normalized dysfunction. It's the soup you all swim in.
Most who choose to stay in this frigid place, eventually lose their warmth and humanity, and turn to ice. A cosmic justice.
