I have decided to pursue a career in music at the age of 35.

Creating doesn't have an age limit, but nice try

Mick Mars didnt join Motley Crüe until he was 30. You're never to old to try to live out your dreams!

Okay

Hardeharrharrr..."Career".
Unless you've retired early, I hope you're extremely lucky and/or well-connected. Or have a very wealthy patron with decades of patience.
Reaction time and manual dexterity both peak in the twenties and fall off sharply after that. You'll have to work 10 times as hard, to be half as good as most of those who started ten-plus years ago.
...you know what? Nvm, it's fine.
*snort*

Go for it

I think it's great, I wouldn't laugh at you. If I had any real talent in guitar playing I'd give up everything to give it a go in a heartbeat :) I'll cross my fingers it works out for you fellow internet stranger.

Good luck! I quit my career to follow my dreams a few years ago. It was truly hard at first but I was very determined and kept at it until I'd lost my entire family and now I live under the bridge.

How does anyone support themselves as a musician in 2019?

No shame

Some people in blues/folk music "start" at your age, because they have the depth of life experience to sing about.

Touring but as Rob Wright of Nomeansno pointed out about a decade ago, there are so many bands out there trying to get gigs because that's the only way they can make a dime. It's crowded out these and there's only so much money around for cover charges and T-shirts. The golden age if indie touring is over for the bands but the music fan always has a gig to go to.

Please reconsider.

Do you know anyone who is making a living wage this way? There isn't anyone . Do some research first. Selfridge and ? are right. I know a very talented someone who has been nominated for a Juno award 3 times and is making a scant living only working retail. Live music doesn't really exist these days and to teach, you need a degree.
