We must be prepared to make some sacrifices for art. Yesterday for example I held court with a good 4 hour vocal concerto for all my immediate neighbors (clear down to the river). Free. Totally free. God bless you ladies and gentlemen. Your welcome- drive safely

As a highly successful musician I can unequivocally state that if given the opportunity to hear an 8 year old kid learning violin and any adult struggling to play an instrument I'll take the child every time.
It's not only the fact the music is terrible - it's that with an adult it's almost certain to never improve. So you're perpetually left with a loser who plays the same things over and over for no good reason other than to(pathetically) amuse themselves.

Except in my case it was a child who clearly had NO musical ability whatsoever. His parents forced him to practice for hours every day (piano), for months, but he never progressed past basic scales. It was torture! Thankfully they finally acknowledged reality and the torture has ended.
