Self control

I don’t have any interest in looking up my ex-girlfriends or any former Fairweather friends on Facebook or Instagram because I know it will only make me miserable and depressed. I was grieving for a while but I finally managed to put a stop to it. I got up, got dressed and went out jogging the trails through the forest near my home for quite a few hours. It felt good to clear my mind and concentrate better so that I can stay focused and positive. Never look up people that don’t matter. Never look up anyone who no longer has any importance in your life whatsoever.

I’m the same way, mostly with my most recent ex boyfriend. It gets difficult, especially when you’re dating someone you know is better but the little things you did with your ex (that made you happy or excited) just keep popping in your head.

The best solution is exactly what you’re doing. Find ways to take your mind off it. Talking with your girlfriend/boyfriend about it can also help problem solve, because chances are, your girlfriend is probably refraining from lookinng up her ex as well.

2 good things for mental health:
Stay away from negative social media and exercise always helps!

So true

I recently have done the same, but I prefer to hit the trails with my Mt. Bike.

Obviously said by someone still young.

When you get older, you get over your bitterness and want to touch base with the people who knew you when you were young.
If you don't get over your bitterness, you turn into a bitter old man.

Great advice

Thank you for this. I needed to read this. Why do we torture ourselves to look up people that have caused us harm when it only further hurts us?

People dont change

their bodies or vessels, just get older.

Revisiting old times/ friends is fine, but some of them will just remind you of why you left them behind in the first place.
But dont give up on strangers,
I figure some of them could be, new friends you havent met yet!
Im not saying give them your credit card or anything, but being open and chatting is good. Lol

You profess to being older and wiser and your post is insensitive and WAY off the mark. You sound like the bitter old man!

Are you a bitter young man? Or a young woman who just doesn't know yet?
When you get older you may realize that some of the people you thought were bad were just your own perceptions and not realizing what's going on on their side of thing.
Hey, I'm not saying their aren't shitty people. My ex was a user and a pedo.
But then there are situations where you assume things about someone and if you only knew their side, you'd realize and learn that sometimes your perceptions are incorrect.
And there will be some who you will want to see again.
Especially to clear up incorrect assumptions, possibly on both sides.
