That's not your call to make. This planet dimension is a school and if you blow off the curriculum you/we got to go back to and keep repeating the grade till we get it. Plus, look on the bright side with thankfulness for life. Regardless the hardships and tribulations there is plenty of beauty here so the 'attitude of gratitude' is part of the curriculum.

You say it's unbecoming. I say that's bullshit and stop being part of the problem. We live in a society that discourages the expression of real human emotion in any format other than a perfectly curated Instagram post about pumpkin spice lattes and leg warmers. We are socialized to believe that emotion should only be displayed in hermetically sealed, appropriate forums: "love" at a wedding, "sadness" at a funeral, "joy" at the birth of a child. God forbid you feel wretched because someone you love does not reciprocate. You better swallow all of that emotion down, put on a smile and get to yoga class.

My preference is to live in a society that does not shame people for being "sensitive". Because in truth you, and everyone else, are entitled to be accepted, loved and appreciated for all of who you are. Perhaps then we could even achieve a world in which no one felt shame over their anxiety, depression or adjustment disorders.

In truth, friend, no one bleeds for nothing. You bleed because you live. And if you don't bleed, you aren't fucking living.

Your sensitivity is a gift, but I get that it can be overwhelming sometimes.

Food for thought: What are some ways you could use your sensitivity to your advantage? (creating art, poetry, film, etc.)

And what are some ways you could protect yourself? (getting enough alone time and being selective about the company you keep, exploring careers that work with rather than against your nature, finding your own unique and private ways to process emotion, spending time in the forest or near the ocean to recharge, etc.)

God Bless you. i am much too sensitive for this world too and have felt that this world is much too harsh, corrupt, satanic and vile for me, since i was a little toddler :( i feel i am a stranger on earth and the people who feel that this is their home are so very different from me. i feel that my true Home is a heaven-like world, and persons/beings where i (my spirit/soul) has come from to incarnate on earth are all peaceful, peace-loving, gentle, kind-hearted, pure-hearted, righteous, warm, affectionate, accepting, giving, generous, empathetic, collaborative, compassionate, humble, sharing, caring, of Kind-Loving Essence. this satanic-ruled world where the elite powerful leaders have taught the many people to be corrupt, cold-hearted, lying, deceiving, cheating, competitive, hateful, judgemental, misogynistic, condescending, vile, lustful, arrogant, selfish, self-righteous and greedy is not at all like the world where i came from :( i can't wait t get back to my True Home, that which is Heavenly and Kind-Loving in Essence. Peace and Love to Everyone, Reap-ture (Rapture) will occur soon to remove out of harm's way all Believers in Christ/Shiah, so please consider Repenting of vile ways (if you haven't already done so), before Tribulation Times of Great Trouble starts. it is up to you, you have choice. God Bless everyone

Why bleed? Get even.

Say it. You know you want to. The word you're going out of your way to avoid saying. You'll never be sensitive, that would require having a soul.

Authenticity or "perfection" - can't have both.
A social order based on the belief that "as without, so within" (external perfection begets inner peace) is ultimately doomed to failure, like all theoretical utopias. Because promotion of photogenic popular mediocrity, among many other reasons.
Instead, the true self eventually manifests in physical reality, through appearance, words, deeds... choice or consequence. Usually in unwelcome and unexpected ways.

And the ancestral vision quest, to "inquire within" for self-actualization, has turned into a primal urge to hide - to withdraw into oneself. The fast, safe, cheap and easy option, like spiritual takeout. Because actual self-reflection is a risky, expensive, painful, time consuming business. To be avoided at all costs, same as vulnerability and emotional investment.
More important matters to attend to - new shiny to buy, fads to follow and seasonal memes to drop. A box of self-care, delivered to one's door via same-day shipping.
Disposable, and even recyclable, culture.

People have long pulled the blankets up to hide themselves from their own fears. Courage and commitment are not innate qualities. Anxiety, however, has saved many a human. For my part, I would simply like to live in a world that does not make a person believe their feelings are shameful because they don’t fall within a commercially endorsed set of “norms”. We are supposed to feel things. But I take your point that we have manufactured a society that monetizes avoidance and, increasingly, social isolation.

Thanks for reading. Not my best work, but it was very late after a 22h day...
Much modern anxiety is misplaced, unwarranted and even destructive, because we're so far outside our evolutionary context as a species. When words, opinions or beliefs are perceived as existential threats (to one's ego or idea of self), the adrenaline-cortisol response is just another vector for self-harm.
There's no bear, and no one will get eaten. But perspective is almost entirely absent from thought or discourse - the stronger the belief or opinion, the more validity attached to it, the faster the escalation.
Anxiety is very effectively monetized, too. The latest research on long-term cost-benefit of psychoactive pharma, and specifically benzos and SSRIs, convincingly indicates that the harm considerably outweighs the (almost undetectable) benefit. And yet medical professional organizations explicitly endorsed the widespread (and growing) use thereof, as highly effective. In the face of evidence to the contrary.
Clearly a case of both motivated perception and motivated reasoning. I say "clearly", because Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." I'd also add "or inertia, or indifference." - usually abundant, even in absence of stupidity. Paranoia is only constructive where it's useful and actionable. And this is neither.

It would be nice if we could have anonymized, padded "time-out rooms" where we could go and fall to pieces. Then collect ourselves, tidy up, and re-emerge all prim, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Once again ready to deal with life and all its sharp edges. Northwestern University research suggests that failure plus perseverance equals almost certain success.
Very Nietzschean, so me likee, but still requires some interim brooding and licking of metaphorical wounds.
