in grad school I wrote a love letter to a classmate instead of doing the paper I was required to do. We were required to recite our papers and she didn't even attend! What a waste. It may have been the profs bock clocking. I'm not sure. The rest of my moronic colleagues were so confused they assumed it was brilliant.

.... never met stupider people than in grad school. It's like the profs have to act "smart" because in an undergrad class there will be some intelligent people they haven't flunked out yet, in grad school they don't need to worry!

You were writing love letters in grad school? Precocious.

You were going to declare your love for an unsuspecting colleague in front of the entire class? And you're in GRAD SCHOOL?!?!? That is some high school level manipulative bullshit. If you're stupid enough to think that she'd be flattered and entranced by being publicly humiliated by your adolescent display, then you're the biggest moron in the class. Idiot.

This is exactly the sort of grad school moron attitude I mean, like you're saying something that unromantic and stupid with authority, probably because you're the sort who could never work up the courage to do it, you're the sort who says "that's wrong" not because it's wrong but because you could not bring yourself to say it.

There is plenty of uniform thinking in university. Like the song: Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes all the same... That said thinking critically IS taught and reinforced in university liberal arts programs, but the parameters are certainly narrow.
