Window Into The Past

The other day when I was passing Science World on the train, I had a vision of Expo 86, and for a fleeting moment I saw the fair as it was 33 years ago...What a rush! It left me wishing that I could time travel with my memories more often.

Those were the days of Vancouver. I saw some old Expo 86 commercials on YouTube and boy did this city look different.

I occasionally have fleeting memories of it, not sure how much of it is real or exaggerated memories of a five year old. A UFO waterpark, strange sculptures of people and cars melded with streets going up to the sky, Colour Wars, Expo Ernie... it's all so hazy but I really prefer to leave it as a dream rather than look it up and see what it was really like.
The future was so bright at the time.

and had a season's pass, but only went 3 times as the sheer volume of people was intimidating... sort of how Vancouver is now, sadly.
