Pray for me

This was remarkably the absolute worst year of my life but I’m hoping to end the year on a different note. I’m handing in my notice today. I’m resigning from my job and flying to visit my kids and my wife. We separated earlier this year after she left me and they moved to Mexico. But that’s my fault and I plan on asking her to marry me, again. I put working non-stop over being a husband and a father, helping my wife raise our four young kids. I don’t want to lose her in this life time. Can’t wait to be with my family. I hope she says yes.

She left you because you were working too much to provide for her and four children in this expensive city?

4 children?

Good for you for realizing what your priorities are, but 4 children?...Seriously? I can't even imagine how much I'd have to provide for one or two, never mind 4. No wonder you had to work nonstop.

It's very common, the only happily married men I know make less than their wives.

I don’t think it’s gonna work

She must have been unhappy and thinking about leaving for a long time before she actually did. I think you need to be realistic and don’t expect her to take you back.

Her: We (aka you) need to make more money so we can go on a trip/better car/ get a condo.
Me: worked 60 hours a week while she worked part time.
Four months later:
Her: you don't spend as much time with me any more. You're always tired. I'm leaving
Me: back to working 4 hours a week, and happy.

She is my wife and I’m fighting for our marriage the way I should’ve before she left me. It is all my fault. I left her with the kids for weeks at a time and sometimes I was only for home one week. I let her down and it’s my time to make it up to them. I gave her a comfortable life staying at home with the kids, but I was an absent husband and father and that’s no excuse.
