The drugs don't work

The distractions that used to keep me entertained are no longer working. They just don't do it for me anymore. I know I need to fill my life with real things that have meaning for me. But there is a giant valley between my current life of numbing distractions, and the life of purpose and connection that I want to create. The gap just seems to big and requires too much energy, I don't know if I can make it.

Everything is going to be all right.

This is a great time of year to assess what is and isn’t working. A lot of us are in the same boat. You are exactly where you need to be.

“I want to have a life of purpose and connection” is a great intention to start with. Write it down on a piece of paper. Put the paper somewhere you will see it regularly.

Start planting seeds based on that intention. What does connection and purpose mean to you? Close your eyes and imagine how you would feel if these things were the foundation of your life.

In order to avoid overwhelming yourself, how about setting the goal of swapping one numbing action for one purposeful action for one month?

Rooting for you. Keep us updated and let us know how it goes.

Don't try to cross the valley in one giant step. Take small steps. Celebrate success and be patient with yourself.

for at least admitting that you have a problem. When I tried drugs it was hard work to get away from that lifestyle. The first few days of cold turkey were brutal because I was angry, scared and had a nervous breakdown. But as long as you have the will power to take control of your life, you’ll be successful. It takes time to get back into the swing of things, but all you have to do is just keep on trucking. Good luck with your journey.

I'll trust in this that I have not been able to have the pleasure of tangible validity. Still it's real enough.

I herd you say the methadone doctor last night. God could it be that maybe there is a salvage from all this crazy out of the box living. I will be more than willing to help you through a recovery as much as you can help me. Which is as we both know probably not a lot because we have our very own issues that well in my case conflict with getting to close to that process but I would love to keep in touch as it happens. I'm going just a matter of when and how. Not likely I'm doing it the same as always failed before. You can do it because I fucking know you are so much more than all that other crap. It was so cool to hear you talking with that lady last night about wanting to do nails. Things like that about tickle my heart in a very happy feather way. Go girl go!
