I confess I have no time for

Music snobs. I know this very pretentious guy who himself plays very poor jazz/blues guitar who constantly puts down guitarists I admire like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton, both of whom he called “hacks”. Yeah, I won’t be discussing music with this snob anytime soon.

Don’t waste your time with this loser. He’s only jealous because they’re beloved musicians who’ve made millions and he’s making minimum wage.

I was lucky enough to have seen SRV three times in '89 & '90. Astonishing virtuosity. Fluid improvisations that were both lyrical and surprising.

I also saw Clapton in '88. I like his work with Cream, Blind Faith, and some of his solo work, but Clapton is a mediocre soloist when it comes to extended soloing. Wheels of Fire makes me want to stab myself in the ears. He plays a lot of notes but has no focus or direction. Hendrix and Vaughan put him to shame. Even sloppy Jimmy Page could pull off extended solos that had focus and purpose. My point is that one can criticize Clapton without it being sour grapes. But pissing on both him and Vaughan is bullshit unless the guy just hates the blues, in which case, fuck that guy.
