Slippery slope

Grown man, single, trying to stop cocaine use. 12 step programs haven't worked for me plus most rehabs are based on these principles - I've tried. Losing money , health and friends but the instant gratification to feel better keeps winning out . Any helpful thoughts much appreciated.

You can do it

Relapsing is part of getting clean just be careful don’t use alone keep naxalone around. I believe in you to get healthy. Do it for yourself cuz you deserve not to be a slave. The feeling better instant gratification is nothing to longer term feeling good and it’s work but its possible and much more satisfying I’m being honest. Not obsessing about how and when that next good feeling is coming. Plus the bonus of not ending up homeless or dead. Good luck. The freedom tastes amazing

You know that shit

Will burn a hole thru your nose if you dont stop.
Think about the reasons you go to Co Co, for relief of what?
What pains your heart ?
Can you move on from it?
Let it go !
Try doing different things, going different places. Anything really.
Change starts with you.
Just get the ball rolling.
Not the 8 ball either :)
You can do it !!!

Non-12 Step

There are other models of recovery. Try checking out smartrecovery.org you can find resources, local meetings and on-line support

There are residential facilities that are non-12 step also

Addiction is usually linked to trauma

Do you have unresolved issues that make you want to self medicate and numb? Have you had your mental wellness assessed? You can beat it with the right support, you just need to find out what that is. 12 step programs often fail people that are uncomfortable with god or religion. Sincerely wanting to make change is a great start. Warm wishes and best of luck to you!

I think you can do it too

to meth ?

What worked for me was.....

.....finding about 1/2 ounce of weed on the sidewalk and smoking it. I'd get too paranoid to go out and score blow and so I'd stay in and read novels, which kept my mind off it. Of course, today you can just go to stressed & depressed and buy all the weed you want, if you feel like trying this method. An added bonus is that the pot makes you eat, quite unlike cocaine, and having nourishment in your body does indeed help you think straighter. Good luck to you!

Keep going

You need to know the feeling of being clean is way better than the feeling of feeling gross, depressed etc of doing the drug
Have you considered other methods of healing? Reiki, meditation, therapy to help along with s program? Have you figured out what triggered the drug use? I wish you healing, and that you can detox yourself easily from this nasty shit. I’ve done coke before but thankfully I had a bad trip and never touched it again....however I smoked weed from 19 until I was 46, I never thought of it as a drug addiction, but now that I have a clear mind, I understand why I was depressed, angry, no motivation etc
One foot in front of the other, one step at a time
You will get there but you want to have to
Wishing you well xo

.. you should see a competent nutritionist and get a healthy diet planned---and if you think you already eat well, research boron and silicon and vitamin K and biotin and copper and, well, everything.

I disagree with addiction being caused by trauma, addiction has a number of causes, but traumatic upbringings, or relationships, often happen when you areinvolved with sick people, for example, any parent who hits their kids is sick, likely malnourished. Any use of force expert says you restrain the child by holding it, you never slap or hit it, even if it is slapping you, I mean, you got like 100+ lbs on it...

omega3 is also important. Stop using vegetable oil period, eat 3lbs of salmon a week, eat lots of leafy green veggies like kale, take boron and silicon supplements and remember, if you don't feel great most of the time, it is your environment. You have control over what you eat, and you have control over whom you associate with.

Lots of cocaine users act like they're "mature" in a "too cool for school way." Avoid those people, cut them out of your life. If you associate with anyone who uses cocaine, ditch them. And, finally, join the Anglican Church of Canada, we can always use another miserable sinner ;)

We believe in you!!

I have a friend who was addicted to meth, and I tried my hardest to fight for her to quit but she still needed a vice, I turned her to cannabis instead. It took a year and a half but she came to a point where she didn’t want meth at all anymore.
4 years later she’s happy and healthy and not smoking cannabis every day either.
Maybe you could try an approach like this? I’m obviously not a doctor but I’ve seen it work for someone so it might for others.
