Winter depresses me

I hate this time of year. The short days kill me. I feel asleep at work in the mornings. Twinkly lights everywhere emphasize the black nights. The commercial Christmas pressure makes me feel empty and sad. I feel like not moving and sleeping all day. I never feel this way in the summer. Plop me barefoot on a patch of sand and let me watch the sunset at 9pm and I feel like that is the best part of the day. I’m not meant for dark, boots, heavy coats, indoor time, fluorescent lighting and Xmas jingles. If I had a spare $1000 I’d fly the fuck South. Maybe I was Cuban in my previous life.

I experience the same energetic variances between the dark and light seasons. If I could I would hibernate with an alarm set for spring.

I feel like that too at the beginning of each winter but I force myself to work out, take 5htp, Vit D. Nurture yourself and make healthy food. Hang out with healthy people. Spring will be here before you know it!

I get it. But I LOVE this time of year. The dark, boots and twinkly lights. Interesting how we are all so different about seasons.

Winter would be a lot easier to deal with if people in this city were friendlier.

Sounds like you should move to Australia so that it'll be summer during Christmas.

PLEASE get yourself a proper therapy light box. It will change your life. :) Good recommendations on the UBC mood disorder SAD webpage.

Invest in a SAD light! Much less expensive than traveling south, and they really help! Some retailers will even rent them to you so you can try for a few weeks before buying.
