Antisocial Media

I have been off Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin for 5 days and my mental health has already improved DRASTICALLY. I have been playing a lot of 90's and early 00's music as well. Life was so much more simple back then. It would be so beautiful if everyone boycotted social media. Can you imagine how much the world would change?... If only...

I had the same experience.
Social media can be a positive experience but man, there is a lot of toxic shit out there.

I'm not completely off social media, but I'm definitely regulating it better. I was starting to get depressed! Better to live life, than talk about it, and read about it! My brain can only hold so much useless information. #happier

I stopped using Facebook a while ago. I still have it, but I just don’t log in anymore. I am tired of the thousa of poor quality selfies or food and baby pics people posted for validation. I have since created an Instagram account where I only share nature/ landscape photos from my trips and I only follow similar accounts.

Well....

I'm on social media but here's what I do:

Facebook: I unfollow the people who brag so I can't see their posts in my feed. Works a charm.

Instagram: I only follow people/businesses that are uplifting and positive (mainly related to my hobby, knitting). I get inspired by what other people are doing, and most of these people are modest and willing to admit their failing as well.

For me, it's been about curating my feed.

Now this is why I read Confessions. I haven't kept up at all with social media at all and it's kept me grounded. I wish more people would try too.

People who are too weak for social media should stop using it. Others who have no problem with it, and know how to make good use of it, can do whatever they want. Life would be so much better if people could mind their own business, and stop telling others what to do with their life. You're just seeking validation and thumbs up on this forum like on any other social medium. I don't see how you're any different from people on Facebook/Instagram posting about their "woke lifestyle," and trying to influence everyone else to do the same. Your post reeks of condescension. No thanks. We can think for ourselves.

How can I not feel better? Now I no longer have to worry about being cyberstalked.

Jealousy

Yeah isn’t it odd how reading about how great others’ lives are (which is just a projection), subconsciously sends one into depression, jealousy and eventually bitterness? I’ve cut way back but not sure if I will totally eliminate it... it’s helpful for finding events and shows to go to

Why would you worry about being cyberstalked?
If a guy is looking at your social media pages, it's no threat to you.
Be worried about real life stalking.

Honestly

It really depends on how you use it. I only use social media for work purposes like picking up and offering shifts to colleagues. That and listening to music as well as watching favorite videos. I do not have all the time in the world to cyber stalk anyone from my past, especially people that don’t mean a thing to me.
