Historians well tell you that there's always a period of over the top indulgence and corruption before the economy collapses or there's a revolution. You mentioned the roaring 20s and the French Revolution comes to mind. We are well overdue for a major correction.

Fun fact. "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche" was the phrase Marie Antoinette supposedly said but there's no record she even said it. Anyways we know what became of her. I say eat the rich.

Oh, it'll be messy, no doubt.
But a revolution literally means "to go completely around, once" in the context of mechanics. And it's just as true of humans, where douchebag elites are replaced with other, new douchebag elites, almost always more despotic and brutal than their predecessors. Egypt is an excellent recent example, though there are too many to list over the last 20 years.
The French got Robespierre. Turns out, when the Sun King said "Après moi, le déluge", he meant a bloody sh*tstorm.

Eating the rich solves nothing. There are many really good old Soviet jokes, about the corruption that sprung up instantly among the new order. A self-promoting aristocracy reliably arises out of every revolution, and also most wars.
Corporatism (like our present-day order) replaced by ideological oligarchy, or more accurately, cleptocracy, is not improvement. Usually a downgrade.

Would be nice if the rococo gilt was at least classy, creative, aesthetically pleasing... But no. Same sort of loud, tacky bling typical of any gluttonous milieu. A real sign of the times.
