In response to society

What if I'd rather kill myself than let oppression do it slowly and painfully? Is that really so unreasonable?

But Vancouverites are the most open-minded in the world. They tell me so while forcing me to conform to their "values". Their values are mostly waiting for property values to rise and shopping for sh%t - while being open-minded.

Get psychiatric help. The important thing in that isn't that it will /directly/ help.

Heck, you will likely find it oppressive.

But you will be able to create new connections. Shuffle associations in your brain. Who doesn't like new things?

Imagine if TV had high quality stuff to YOUR liking/level of experience or knowledge you could binge watch all the time and that would grow you into something better (to YOUR liking, again) over the years.

That is a hypothetical. But if that was possible, it would be great.

But that's not how life happens. So besides chancing on new opportunities or the possibility of new opportunities, what else is there you can do?

I guess that when the mentally ill say the TV or radio is talking to them (hallucinations), they've sorta reached that state where the media content is relevant to them, in a way, as with the hypothetical above.

But you want relevance in the real world. One thing I found over time (I'm 32 so been feeling old for almost 2 years now--and getting as impatient as old people, a far cry from my own past or other 20 yr olds' behavior!)

is to stop thinking about purpose. There is no purpose to life. You create meaning out of your life experiences, and those are unique to you.

My ask to my suicide psychiatrist was "how can I serve society?". He told me he would help. Guess he later found my ambitions delusional.

I was then told to get a minimum wage job lol. Been there done that more than once.

That was 4+ years ago. Be back to it but for now,

Follow your childhood dreams selfishly. Do not bother yourself one bit about how far away you are from being of utility to, I don't know, helping move the needle on DTES matters. There are very competent corporate types serving on boards with their finance, real estate and legal experience and skills that I could never have.

If you do not develop an inner aggression, sad thoughts of helplessness against the world or people who have harmed you will keep being triggered whenever you're low on energy (and fast carbs don't make you feel better the older you get--metabolism isn't just slower it's different) which is a natural part of daily life.

Sorry about overall coherence on this. Not composed on a PC.

Inner aggression: watch Denzel Washington's "The Equalizer". Those feelings inside you when justice is served? You can't kill. But movie screenwriters get financed.

If you did

Then who would the oppressors have to oppress?

People can be so selfish, wanting you to live so they don't feel bad, but how many of them are willing to be with you to comfort you while you're in pain, or help you get out of it? Maybe for a day or two at best. So if exiting is your solution, you have my blessing. But before you do, at least try once to give the people in your life a chance by telling them everything so they can see the whole picture, including how you feel.

Sick of this mental health angle

Not everyone who wants to end their life has a problem that is psychiatric in nature. Sometimes a very logical, centred person can see all options before them and realize that there are no options left. Those people we ask them to fall back on aren't always "there" in the way they'd need to be to be of any real help. Most aren't even equipped to provide base level moral support, less even care. The person who wants to end it may do so because the pain and suffering is too great, the options for saving their health is out of reach, the economics are so impossible that survival becomes a horrible, psychologically damaging future. How many of you could endure being homeless, in the shelter system with the bedbugs, violence, the loss of everything you worked hard for, the isolation, the fear of theft, the loneliness, being surrounded by mentally ill who steal and are walking time-bombs? Or living in putrid conditions eating garbage so everyone around you can feel good that they saved you, is that what you want because that is what you ask another to endure so you can feel good about saving a life. knowing these are the realities, it's easy to see why someone wouldn't want to go on, and unless you are truly willing to go out on a limb to sit with them, be there for them for months on end for emotional support because they can't afford to see a professional, unless you can be there with financial support until they can get back on their feet which could take a year or two (or longer if they're older), you got nothing to say. The person who chooses to leave is a lot saner than the ones who make empty pleas to assuage their guilt because they know, deep down, that they're a shallow fair-weather friend who doesn't want your pain to ruin their weekend.

Feeling your pain right now.
But no angle on mental health.
Human dna is riddled with issues.
We all have issues.
Some are just better and more equiped at hiding their issues.
What is considered completely sane
Anyways ?
