Heavy breathing joggers

I confess that I’m the ‘crazy bitch’ who extends my dog’s leash 2 meters when you jog past me on the Seawall in such close proximity that I can smell your b.o.. Doctors say that running increases the chances of producing micro-droplets that can transmit the virus from person to person, if too close. So , if you’re gonna take up jogging during a pandemic (ya, talking to you running in your Vans) , then respect the distancing metrics or I’ll do it for you .

Doctors said the risk of transmission between runners is almost nil because they pass each other for a brief second.

What sources were you looking at? Are you piecing this theory together at home with some yarn?

Where l live, joggers just jog down the middle of the empty streets. Problem solved.

haha- you do sound like a piece of work though, passive aggressively using your dog to make a point, means any sympathy evaporates

I really think there should be a fine

for people not taking it seriously to social distance. Otherwise they won't smarten up. Obviously it's not working for some thick skulls not to have consequences for their choices.

I agree with your point, joggers should be careful to keep proper distance. But I've also experienced dog-walkers totally oblivious to this on sidewalks. Maybe the rather narrow seawall isn't the best place for people to get exercise and maintain that distance. In my neighbourhood, the side streets are all pretty empty, I stick to those for my daily walk. The leaves and blossoms are coming out, it's a great alternative to crowded park sidewalks.

So...you walking your dog on the seawall is ok?

..but all the joggers are the problem..and giving your dog slack to roam where others might have to violate distancing guidelines to avoid said dog is just fine?

Dog walkers are the worst.... you have that long leash getting in the way of everyone and forcing people closer. You don't even move dogs off the side-walk for people.

There are some tight sections along the wall, also all of false creek towards the beach where it's almost unavoidable. Even under 3 people, when the sun is out and everyone goes for walks joggers will inevitably let out a long exhale behind you (it has happened to me way too many times at this point!). Frankly, I feel lucky that I have not gotten sick.
Joggers either need to slow down completely, which means you won't even be jogging at that point or to not run at all where people are walking during this time. There is absolutely no way to maintain proper distance. I have been running in the early mornings because of this so I don't have to worry about breathing on others and maintaining my pace. However, I cannot go out for leisurely walks by the water anymore, I've been walking on the city sidewalks which are actually much safer. Frankly it were these deep mouth breathers that pushed me to get up bright and early tho, so all for the best I guess.

after a certain about of people
