It’s going to be a long haul

I’m usually a pretty positive person. But the facts and science behind COVID-19 don’t paint a good picture. Honestly I don’t see our consumer society returning to its globe-trotting, festival-attending, beer swilling in clubs and restaurants for a year or more. This is a global infection that needs to die down. I can’t wrap my head around how it will all play out, especially south of the border from us, in America and Mexico. I have confidence in Canada and the guidance from the health ministers. But controlling COVID-19 in the USA and Mexico.... again the facts about those two countries makes me very pessimistic. If Canada gets it under control, how can we exist alongside the USA where it will be a catastrophe with 50 states all doing different things? I have moments of shock. I grieve for so many things too many to count. I know we will get to the other side of the tunnel but I’m fucking scared of what will happen before we get there.

yeah, nice post.
What a mess it all is.
I live abroad and I wanted to see my family this summer, but it looks like there's a good chance that's impossible.
The country I'm in was one of those to get this first where it was appropriately responded to.
We've gone through about 3 rounds of hoarding cycles.
Currently every business that is open have 6ft distance floor markings for spacing out people (ie checkout lines), tables have half of the seats red X'ed out, and they just added special elderly shopping hours.
I'm not sure where you guys are with restaurants open but it'll probably go to limits like we have soon if not outright closings.
If the numbers are still low and cases are traced it doesn't have to turn into the US full shit-storm situation.

i feel the same way

Thanks for expressing this with such clarity, in a way we can all relate to.

Started this? We know he is without an ethical compass but would he sink this low?

but if people abide by self isolation and take extraordinary care, we should be all right. Yes, this is a major disruption and not to minimize any of it and of course our thoughts and love out to those most affected. Again, more than ever we are seriously in this together.
