Fearing the worst

I feel like the US situation with COVID-19 is going to be desperate and violent. You have people there unemployed with no safety net, no healthcare coverage and access to guns. Even in the best of times, I don’t know how Americans can endure their country. What will happen when masses go hungry with no social services? It’s a powder keg situation and it’s going to be dreadful. I used to drive to the USA regularly for road trips but I don’t see myself driving down there for the next 2 years.

I have friends there. They're like family...no, better than family. I try to stay positive for them but privately I fear for their safety and well being. Not so much the virus, but the madness that fear has brought forth. It will be all around them, mixed with desperation.
We need miracles fast.

They have no clue... It is going to be a complete shit show ! We are going to witness a total break down of society like never seen before... This is uncharted dark waters lead by a mad man with no regard for any one but himself !!! No switch to turn it off, no plug to pull and with the cameras at every angle to capture the whole free fall . Put on your seat belt and be prepared it is not going to be pretty. We are all in for a very bumpy ride ! No one is immune to the many tentacles of this serpent, it will be far reaching into humanity as we once new it. The leader ship on many fronts has been so questionable at best...Too many mixed messages leads to anarchy.

They are probably heading for an Italy situation where hospitals are overrun and the death numbers will elevate dramatically. But then I feel the same will happen here in Canada.

To be clear though, they do have a social safety net (welfare) including disability and food stamps and numerous other programs. In actuality they probably have more social programs than Canada, and while they do not have socialized healthcare like Canada, their system has been mandated for many decades to not allow refusal of treatment, so until the system collapses, nobody will be refused treatment.

Not that any of this is a bright spot, I’m just trying to clarify the system they have.
