I’m scared

I did not have a job to lose because of Covid but I unfortunately started looking for one in January and I cannot find one since! My experience is only in retail and hospitality and these are some of the hardest hit industries. Of course they aren’t hiring now. Because I didn’t lose a job, I am not eligible for any benefits and every official channel I try emailing to ask about what help is available has not gotten back to me. Why are people who were lucky enough to be working already when all this happened the ones that are helped? My Savings are now less than 100$ and I’m royally fucked. I am all alone. Im at the point I wish I would get the virus and die.

Look up CERB. They are offering $500/wk for up to 16 weeks.

You can do it online. Or look up the address of your local office.

It is no good. The government sucks. That's why you should always play it safe. Get ANY job, even if it is a trades job in the meantime.

Grocery stores are hiring entry-level positions, so are warehouses for companies liked FedEx and Amazon.

But prostitution maybe out of question due to social distancing restrictions.

Maybe try calling instead of just emailing. Although CERB should be able to help you.

Apply though CRA and you can do it by phone. Call them.

Please know and find strength in the fact that we are all feeling the same way to some degree. do yourself the favor of not allowing the world's problems to influence all the potential that is waiting for you. you need to modify your "wish" and become part of the solution.

Try applying for CERB

My sister did and got her first payment this morning. $2000/month for 4 months. You’ve put so much money toward the federal government in taxes; now it’s time for you to receive services from them.

Are you not eligible for social assistance? That’s the most logical place to start, since technically the CERB is specifically for people who lost a job due to the COVID pandemic, not for people who were already out of work. I live on the island so I can’t speak to what it’s like where you are, but where I live, Walmart, London Drugs, Shoppers, Pharmasave, Superstore and Dollarama are all hiring because of worker burn-out and illness, and so are all of the grocery chains. Also, if you have a vehicle or access to reliable transportation, you might be a good candidate for Canada Post or one of the Amazon distribution centres if there’s one near you. I think I saw an Ikea job ad the other day too. A lot of these jobs are temporary, which sucks, but I’m sure some of them could become more permanent, and even if they’re just for now, it’s better than starving. I’m at home with my kids. I was looking for work as well before this happened, but with them home all day, I’m stuck, so I’ve started writing the novel my friends have always insisted I should write. It might be bloody awful, but it’s a break from the screens, so it’s probably not a bad way to stay occupied.
