Liking the new Vancouver

The roads have few cars, the sidewalks have space, the $300,000 Lambos are gone, the obnoxious 2am drivers leaving downtown yelling are gone, the beaches are spacious, shopping is dead, this is a Vancouver I really like. I feel a calm that I haven’t felt in years here.

Maybe these 2am drivers that you speak of are now back in Surrey, Abbotsford where they belong. Little shit towns.

I know right?

10% of restaurants have probably gone out of business for good, and by the end of May that'll jump to closer to 40%.
Kids are not getting a full education or daily amount of recommended exercise.
Old folks can't visit or be visited by family.
domestic violence sufferers can't leave their situations.
I love when 75% of people's lives are turned upside down too.

It feels like the early 90s again.

Similar to Vancouver in the

early 90s. Then it all went downhill from there. Vancouver has turned into the Las Vegas of the North. Robson Street brings back those same memories now of the riots in ‘94. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone who move to Vancouver before ‘95 returned home? Liking the old Vancouver compared to pre Pandemic Vancouver.

Your a loser - if you want that, move to Flin Flon or something FFS

90’s?

Nope. More like the 70’s and early 80’d before Expo 86 happened. Life back then was definitely better here because it was much less populated, but this situation is still unprecedented in modern times, so I can’t say that I’ve ever experienced anything quite like it.

Ignore the original nasty reply. They're probably someone who moved here who resents you for missing the days before a shit ton of people moved here.

love it

it's glorious. no obnoxious entitlement or belligerent wealth being flaunted. it's vancouver of yore, for sure, and absolutely perfectly quiet.
