Seems like our true culture is re-emerging

We can make food and stuff, craft like we want to... That's like human culture stuff... not like that economic marketing crap shoved down our throats to keep up with the rat-race. The economy will be fucked after this.

Some of us have been here for a while. If I see another person psyched they can make bread, I might flip out though. Did parents not pass this stuff down? I grew up making everything and have been, for fun. Homemade stuff is way better than some soulless corporation's shillings. Pass it on!

I am not the OP, but I for one grew up not knowing that things like soup, salad dressing and pasta sauce could be made from scratch.

Food corporation marketing is one hell of a machine.

Sounds like the early 90s in Van to me. Anyways, people here are lazy and complacent and will return to their old habits, sadly - but it doesn't mean you have to.

Don't you all do this stuff anyway?
It's all part of the Vancouver vibe right?
Making your own pickles, jewelry, scarves?
Do you even West Coast?
Don't let Portland out-hipster you now...

Vancouver never has been or will be as cool as Portland and no one here makes their own shit. They just talk about it. I’m glad the pandemic made some people actually try.
