Wait and see

If the thousands of Canadians who were job-hunting in the months leading up to Coronavirus are not eligible for benefits when they need it the most, they will start turning to other means to survive! This means crime. I am one of those people forgotten about by the government, and I am already playing around with ideas in my head about breaking the law for my survival. I now understand the poverty stricken members of our society, why there is so much crime, now that I’m put in a precarious position myself. With all my savings dried up paying bills and rent with no income, I’m close to following the path of crime to survive. Thanks Trudeau for your major fuckup rewarding people who already had work.

You're not going to make a very good crook. Don't do it. Secrecy is key to success. I don't think you're ready for crime just yet.

Have you applied for income assistance? It's not enough to live on, but it's better than nothing.

Why would you threaten to commit crimes just because you didn't find work before the lockdown started? Lots of employers desperately looking for workers these days. Not great jobs, and probably not the career you are looking for but grocery stores, pharmacies, delivery, warehouse, child care, elder care, cleaners--doing any of these jobs would tide you over and be a very useful contribution to society.

That if you're going to rob a bank they may have reduced hours... I'd hate for you to waste your time. Jokes aside, some people are actually hiring right now. If you're cut out for it, have the skill set, are the right temperament and your ethics align, supportive housing/ housing providers in the DTES are currently looking to hire people in many positions. Some of us are actually being forced to do unwanted OT... good for the bank but it's burning us out. I've worked 56 hours this week so far.

What you gonna steal? Hard to sell anything worthy at the moment... unless you have toilet paper or n95 masks

I'd rule out burglary

Given that burglars can't break into your place because everyone's at home all day. They're asking everyone to gather a few valuables and leave them out by the front door every night. Every little bit helps.

What people keep forgetting. Inequality creates more crime. It creates me hate. Inequality is KILLING US and we're all acting as though it's fine that every year we have more and more billionaires. It's time people wake the fuck up!
