You're a big boy now

I know someone who lives at home and he's 35. His parents have told him he has to go. They are going to pay about 80K to get him out of the house because he is a dependent....not independent. He will not make it on his own in this world. He can't even do a simple task that anyone from age 5 and up can do. And he's consistent with it. He needs to get the fuck out of his parents place and learn what it's like to fend for yourself. You're a big boy now....time to act like one.

Don't tell me what to do or how to act. What goes on with my parents is my business, not yours. BTW, I can tie my own shoes...all by myself, as well as count to 50. So there!

He will not make it on his own in this world - do you think there might be reasons such as depression, illness etc or do you think it might be better to teach some responsible tasks before throwing the person out if he won't make it. I'm curious why you're so interested.

Tough Shit

It’s his parent’s fault he can’t get his shit together. They’ve enabled him to become useless.

Self awareness much?

Maybe he has a personality disorder or PTSD from being abused as a child? It's not like the family is going to go around telling people about it. Sometimes situations are more complicated than YOU NEED them to be so you can have your sense of superiority because that is what this is really about. You staring down your nose at someone to help you get through the day. Mind your business.

why so concerned

I hear your frustration.
I have a cousin who lives at home he has never moved out and my grandma with dementia decided to give my cousin her car as she went into care.
The best part?
When i visit my nan she reminds me not once but about 5 times because of her dementia.
Dear did i tell you i gave your cousin my car?
Hilarious really.
Why does it bug me?
Im the only damn grandkid who visits nana, changes her litter box, takes her out, sends her gifts etc. And its so hilarious that she says over and over how i didnt get something lol.
I let it go.
You should too.
My cousin must have mental health issues.
And i love him unconditionally.
I was out of the house at 18. For good. Mentally ill unmedicated mom i had to get the fuck out of there.
I raised my half sister on my own and she died of overdose so so young.
I saw my friends parents keep their kids at home as long as they could.
Some reap the benefits... Ones going to be a mechanical engineer as a woman.
Some just have mum and daf make them food clean their rooms etc and buy their kids mercedes.
Their kids move out and cant affort that lifestyle and give up knowing the lifestyle they want costs too much and they havent worked for it.
We have seen it all in the world havent we.
True story.
Back in the day in surrey it was dominated by french canadians.. They all lived with mum and dad.. Had their kids... And mom and dad watched the babies.. The kids lived with the parents to get ahead. It was called "Family Capitalism."
The french canadians are still out there and we see the east indians doing a better job at family capitalism then my french family did.
My mom would aways say need a cab? Call me ill charge half price be on time and the money STAYS in the family.
You say you know a guy who lives at home at 35.
Honestly, people have wanted so much stuff.
You will see many more people staying living at home longer... When i have kids i hope i am able to bring back family capitalism and support my children as long as their going ro school, actively working and saving for their family... Contributing somehow.

His parents have no faith in his abilities as an adult so they have coddled him and essentially screwed him up. Now he’s totally useless.
