Drive thru

I notice that some drive-through car washes have a track that pulls a vehicle along. I also see fast food drive-thrus and vehicles on idle for up to 30 mins at a time. I wonder why drive-thrus don't have a track? Then a car could be turned off if it's a long line and be pulled through. Less exhaust, more relaxing, cleaner air. Or maybe we decide to not use drive-thrus at all and just prepare food at home... Would I?

There's thousands of intersections with stoplights in the GVRD,and half the time one direction is stopped, with idling cars. And cars running all over the place.
