I think for the most part

BC people have abided by the social distancing rules and the relatively low numbers of coronavirus infections in our province are a testament to this. So I read today that city council is considering allowing drinking at parks and beaches. OK, so let's take thousands of folks who have been cooped up for the past several months, bring on the nice, warmer summer weather and suddenly allow outdoors drinking in public places. Right, nothing can possibly go wrong with this idea. <sigh>

You are the most uptight douche-bags around. I think most people know how to have 1 or 2 drinks at a park.

I take it you haven't been to a park or beach in months. There are people drinking in every one of them every day.

The second wave in inevitable, especially because BC was so successful at keeping the numbers down.

Dr. Suzanne Sicchia, an associate professor at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Health and Society at the University of Toronto Scarborough, said "A second wave occurs when new cases emerge after a “sustained period of time with no or very few infections.”

Now I remember why I would go down to Kits beach after dark.

I remember the type of people who frequent the beaches during the week tend to be serious assholes from hell who have made money elsewhere and have decided to lounge around in Vancouver where they remain the same pig-like humans as they are everywhere else - except its too bad they have to go to Vancouver beaches to start with.

As you can tell from the tone of this, if these types want to party and all get the plague then they will be no different from London Gadflys in 1665 who drank pints of gin in the year of the Great Plague that killed 1/4 of the city in 12 months.

1 Relax, it's not actually going to happen because it's not within council's jurisdiction and the park board doesn't want to do it.

2 People have been drinking in the parks for years...

3 Public intoxication and creating a disturbance continue to be illegal.

Maybe people would feel less inclined to bring their own drinks - or fewer- if the park board first turned on the f**ng WATER FOUNTAINS, SHOWERS and FOOT-WASH/DOG-WATER taps for crying out loud. Aren't we supposed to be using more clean water, after all???
