I’ll cook at home thanks...

Went for lunch at my favourite Vietnamese on Cambie and prices were way up across the menu, I guess due to COVID 19. I won’t be rushing out to dine since apparently many restaurants are doing this due to limited seating.

I can understand the restaurants needing to increase the prices to try to reflect the new reality. However, I don't at all feel the need to be an obliging consumer on those terms to support this. Over the past 10 weeks my wife and I have greatly expanded our repertoire at meal-time, learning new dishes, and making it a shared activity. Our outings have been long bike rides around the city, and other outdoor events with the dog. Way less $$ spent than before this way. Until this new normal for us wears thin, I can't say we are missing eating out at all.

I already WAS too expensive.
The only thing I can't make at home is dosa s but that's pretty much just a pancake.
Nothing new here

I’ve been living this way for ages. I live on a very small budget now that I’m disabled, so I can’t afford expensive entertainment and restaurants anyway, but I much prefer a simple life regardless. I get that restaurants feel the need to make up for the financial hit they’re taking, but I also think they’re signing their own death warrant by raising their prices so high that their customers stay away. People like me who only ate out once in a while will be doing so even less now.
what goes up doesn't come down

Through higher taxes and higher prices on food, clothing etc., us public will eventually be paying for COVID- like the headline said, its inevitable.
stopped eating out long ago...

After mastering how to make steaks and lobster/shrimp/prawns... surf & turf at restaurant costed $50+ pre covid. Same ingredients to make =$15... and only 30 mins to make... less time than driving out, parking, waiting in line...
