K'mpec Said

"The Klingon who kills without showing his face has no honour." I feel similarly about humans that post photos of just the back of themselves on their dating profiles.

Peering into the Warf

I really ‘enjoy’ the ones where every picture the person is wearing sunglasses and/or a hat. Or the ones with the image of a cartoon character, or just of a flexed torso in a bathroom mirror. Or standing in front of a random shiny vehicle. Also the worst: when it looks like every image is meant to be a passport photo. Orrrrrr the photos of someone doing heli skiing or some extreme sports when the person only did it once or twice and hasn’t done it since.

I want to see your beautiful life that you think is boring but is truly a wonderful place to explore simply because you are in it.

If you don't want people you know to see you, just cover up your eyes.

That is weird. I guess you're supposed to like them for who they are and not how they look?

No honour in virtual realty.

Do you meet many other like minded Klingons looking for some honour action or generally only see the rear of their heads? Qapla!

As well as

the ones who are wearing baseball hats and sunglasses and, in the age of COVID, masks as well to hide their identities! In fact, I was approached on a dating site by a guy who's profile photo was him wearing a hoodie, sunglasses, and a face mask in what looked like a hotel bathroom. WOW. Not scary or weird at all! It's definitely a two-way street, though - I've seen women's online profile photos that are just as deliberately anonymous. That being said, perhaps the folks hiding their faces online (in general) aren't just married folks looking for some side fun, but folks like me who are concerned about facial recognition? A dating site seems like an ideal place for intrusive organizations to harvest data for facial recognition software development and/or research. Sounds like a conspiracy theory, right? Pretty sure it's already happening.

Believe it or not

When all else had failed and I was crying in the dispart of loneliness, I placed my partnership application with the Universal Powers That Be & soon had a dream about a woman who one week later walked into my place of employment. We've been together now going on 25 wonderful years and never had one argument.
