Lotsa' Work, Pal

I have a lot to work on, and I recognize that. I have a mental illness. I was diagnosed with it very late in life. But I'm not a bad person. I didn't choose to be this way. I have a lot to offer. Some people have more 'acceptable' challenges that are easier to understand. I won't name those more acceptable challenges, because that wouldn't be fair. But to the people who gave up on me: you got rid of the hard parts about me. But you've also missed out on the rest of me — and there is A LOT to the rest of me. I don't blame anyone for leaving me behind. But I do hope for a future where people are more educated and open-minded about the rainbow of challenges that humans face. It's not always pretty, but we're still individuals with stories and hopes and love. We need you to believe in us.

Well keep working on your challenges until they're more acceptable. If you're mental illness causes emotional or physical abuse towards someone else then you really shouldn't be with someone because to do so is putting them in harms way.

Movin’ on, too?

Tolerance is not the same as acceptance... they gave it their best shot?

Mental illness is an insanely lonely journey

The rejection is unbelievable. Both so-called friends and romantic partners always seem to walk away. It's the hardest thing to experience, not the illness, but the constant rejection and utter loneliness. And the stigma in general. BTW, most mentally ill people are not physically violent. Another classic misconception. I dream about meeting someone who will love me and not even have to "accept" me, they will just truly fall in love with me and want to be with me, because I am that special someone for them. Of course, I am certain this will not happen. No one cares about people like us.

I'm sorry, you can find your prince charming. I'm the commenter that spat the b.s about the moon lit fog and so on. I'm bitter sometimes when I read shit that reminds me I gave my unconditional heart to a person who piled on me nothing but conditions. I was never going to be good enough for her. I loved with my whole heart and sure the broken pieces caused me a ton of pain and problems it's who my love was so really I loved those pieces the same. Make sense probably not, but I found her so beautiful top to bottom inside out and upsidedown I'm never going to give my heart like this again. :-(

Who said anything about abuse? Your perfunctory response is judgemental and a perfect example of the stigma that people with mental illness experience.

How do people get others to love them? Why do good people sacrifice themselves to satisfy the wants and needs of life suckers?

Life owes nobody anything. Whether someone has a mental illness or not. Why should you assume that someone else should be willing to tolerate the issues that may come from living with someone with mental illness? Just like those guys who believe that every guy is entitled to have sex with women, whether the women want them or not? It’s an entitled mentality that is entirely ignorant of the facts of life. People are attracted to other people who offer them the type of lifestyle they want. People are attracted to other attractive people. It’s just life. I have suffered from depression on and off since childhood. That makes it difficult to maintain good relationships because obviously it affects people I’m living with. Yes, I have lots of other wonderful qualities, but that’s not necessarily going to be enough to keep someone around if they also have to tolerate the bad times with me. We have to realize that other people owe us nothing, and they have every right to choose to be with whomever they like.
