Missing the gym for my mental health
posted May 14th, 2020 at 7:07 AM
I have always suffered from low self esteem. I'm a naturally skinny guy who has been made fun of all my life. The constant jabs and ridicule got to me. A few years ago I started hitting the gym. I put on 30 pounds of muscle and for the first time in my life started feeling good about myself. But with the gyms closed I am seeing those gains start to melt away. I'm doing all I can at home, but it's not the same as lifting heavy weights at the gym. I hate that my self esteem seems to be based on my fitness level. But it is, and I'm falling back into old habits of hating myself.

cuz i feel the same way myself.
The gym is absolutely the most important medicine in my lifestyle to improve my mental health.
i'm doing stuff at home also with bands and my body weight.
It's helping but I really need to pump some serious iron soon.
Hey skinny

There is a substancial number of wo/men who are hugely attracted to thin guys and we are always sad to see you guys trying to change your beautiful bodies.

It's not that difficult to still be making gains with just a band and body weight. Is it the same as heavy deadlifts? No. But I just had to play with the rep, set range. A ridiculous 9 sets of 15 reps of each exercise is working for me. My shoulders especially are looking absolutely massive.
i'm ok , you're ok!

as I haven’t shaved my legs or wore makeup in days! Looking forward to gym opening as I haven’t shave there either and can’t wait to make my bubble bigger.

My gym is closed too...and I'm losing cardio and flexibility....but my self esteem isn't affected......so I wonder what the difference is. Why is yours affected and mine isn't.
