My boyfriend says he doesn't love me

After dating my boyfriend for 9 months, I finally had the courage to ask him if he loves me and he said no. I was obviously shocked and upset when he said that but when I asked if he's ever been in love before? He said no. He's dated so many girls before and not even once has he ever felt love for any of them. I don't know whether I should stay in this relationship just because he doesn't love me. He told me that he really likes me and I have a special place in his heart. But i still don't get why he's too afraid to fall in love with me.

Don't get into a relationship until thd guy has BOTH said and shown he loves.
Otherwise you're just *useful* to him, understand?

This might sounds harsh

But ask yourself (all of us who seek or are in a relationship) what am I bringing to the table? What do I bring to THEIR life? I love this person because of how they make me feel, or what they do for me, or whatever, right? So maybe ask yourself, what do I do for this person and relationship? What am I bringing to the table.

Oh no

That’s so painful. But after 9 months if you had to ask in the first place, and then the answer was no, that’s your answer. As painful as it is, trust what he says the FIRST time he says it. Having wasted an incredibly long time hoping for a different outcome, I speak from unfortunate experience. Please just cut your losses now, before you waste any more time and energy on someone who’s not going to be who you want and need.

Not everyone...

... is capable of love. He's obviously not. The interesting thing is that clearly you don't care if he loves you, because you don't need to ask someone to know if they love you, love is a verb, you only asked because you weren't sure he loved you.

How do you know he is too afraid to fall in love with you? Did he say he was afraid? Maybe he’s not looking for the serious love type of relationship. If you think he is “ too afraid to fall in love with you”, then you’re saying you are different than all of his ex-girlfriends.
Face the reality, I think he is honest, he does like you a lot and you have a special place in his heart. But he doesn’t love you.
Do you love him? And make sure you know what is the true meaning of love before you say yes.
Should you stay with him? Well, depends in what you want.

His first in love experience could have been an evil jealous envious manipulative power driven narcissistic sociopath that pulled one emotional and mental job on him after another and all just for malicious shits and giggles. Some people's wounds can carry a pain that would just be so incomprehensive to anyone that didn't experience it just like they did.

Being in love is all great if you've never had your heart repeatedly broken and finally eviscerated by a siren's song. Trust me, just loving someone is a lot safer for anyone's sanity than being in love with them. Doesn't matter how many people he's been with. What matters is how many of those people did he do the walking out on. That number can be less than you have.

His “special” place

is farther south from the heart. The rest should be self explanatory, only maturity will tell.
