Oddly enough

My life hasn't really changed that much. ( other than hoping that no one is coming towards me in the grocery aisle.) I don't really have friends to socialize with and can not afford restaurants, bars, concerts, sports events, vacations or traveling. My work has been done partially online before. I'm single, middle aged and home most of the time other than my usual walks outside . My income does not allow for shopping trips for clothes or new household items for fun. No one makes a big fuss on my birthday. It just seems odd that people are complaining so much about these things. There are lots of real reasons for stress during the pandemic. But lots of people are like me and have not gone out to restaurants or trips before either.

Battle between Introverts & Extroverts ever since this pandemic started. Even though I’m shit scared like most and taking Bonnie’s advice, I’m really enjoying life in Vancouver again. Streets not as busy or loud, same when you go outside to most places for a walk or ride, quieter at night too. Wish this mellowness returns again.

But I don't go out drinking or eating out because I can mix better/cheaper drinks at home. Almost every time I've eaten out I've been disappointed by the quality,or quantity- and TBH I can make better things at home.
Bars: too loud. Concerts and sports: no interest/too loud. Shopping: non materialistic

Hello! I'm Oddly Enough, too! COVID hasn't changed my life all that much either. Obviously, I'm very concerned for our healthcare workers and other 'essentials' who continue to work hard despite the risk, but otherwise I'm enjoying the peace and quiet.

I haven't eaten out in years. I have not bought anything new to wear for several years. I have never been to a hockey game and I went to the Orpheum once , 21 yrs ago. I don't have a gym membership and have never gone out on my birthday. I have to shake my head when people are annoyed when they can't golf or take their kids skiing or do their regular Caribbean Vacations.

When I hear stories of people saving hundreds of dollars each month because they aren’t going to restaurants or to the gym, etc., it blows my mind. Seriously? Who needs to eat at restaurants that often? I’m a very simple person too; I make my own coffee, my own food, don’t take expensive vacations or buy junk all the time, and my entertainment consists of riding my bike and getting together with friends and family. Hopefully this might smarten some people up, but I don’t think the hospitality industry will be too happy.

May I ask why you stay in Vancouver? If you moved you would have a bit of money at the end of the month.

You sound really boring. If I were you I’d definitely move out of the city so I had a bit more extra cash to spend on something fun, like a trip somewhere.

Congrats, you're a hermit. Why do you think everyone else should want to live like you?
