Something doesn't seem right

If the government can successfully shut down everything as we know it, witnessing from this covid-19 thing. Why can't they do the same with plastics and pollution? Your telling me they can hault entire cities , people, restaurants, banks, production plants, etc but can't hault plastics and pollution? Im begining to think they just dont want to.

There's a large difference between something we use and something that is out of our control like a pandemic.

They can shut down the city because of a genuine health emergency but politicians still don't view climate change and pollution as a health emergency even though the planet's population will be eradicated soon.
Oh and planet Earth will be just fine thank you until the next species starts up and gives it a go.

The question that begs from all this is "can people take climate change as seriously as the virus"?

1. No, they dont want to.

2. You seem to be glossing over the fact that there are gonna be some sizable repercussions from shutting down major cities like they have.

Where to even start? Short answer: you’re being extremely naive. Enacting a law to literally save lives right now, is completely different than trying to change such ingrained behaviour. Stopping people that have become accustomed to using these products for their entire lives, isn’t even remotely similar. A pandemic is not going to last forever. There are so many things that have to be sorted out long term in order to actually remove a substance that has become a staple part of existence for human beings living in any part of the world other than remote and hidden tribes somewhere. It’s a nice thought, but it’s going to take a lot more than that to be able to actually remove it from use.

What do you expect the government to do exactly? Plastic is rampant because modern man needs it to survive. Next time you go to the grocery store, just try and buy something that's not wrapped in plastic product. Too much effort, am I right?

When there is a will

You are right! Another example: Today was decided to ban all the machine guns, end of the story, why can't the just act on all the other necessary issues?
