Why

Why are young people so mean? You wouldn’t want anyone talking to your mother like that? So why are you doing it to me who is probably 10 years older. I’m fat and not that attractive but always seem to be ridiculed. It hurts sometimes.

Teens have underdeveloped frontal lobes until the age of 25 so their decision-making process is rather unpredictable. Frontal lobes, which are the seat of our executive, adult-like functioning like impulse control, judgment and empathy. Throw in a lot of crazy hormones and you have a bit of a wild card; that's why many young men are into extreme sports and the military sends them to war. They can get them to take risks, but I digress. In life, young people are just unpredictable. I'm sorry you have encountered some shitty kids. Just keep in mind that they're small incomplete people if it happens again.

I find kids today more respectful than they were 20 or 30 years ago. Those kids could be animals. Lucky you weren't there. I was. Little monsters everywhere.

I agree with the above poster; young people today seem far more kind and conscientious than kids in the late 20th century. Also they seem more aware of the world around them.

As a fat kid in the 70s and 80s, believe me, kids were always mean.

please don't let the insecurities and flaws of others become your own issues. The "mean kids" want others to feel as miserable as themselves. Don't let them!

I think

It's not that young people have changed, it is the amount of time parents invest in raising their kids to be kind and respectful that has declined. There is, with few exceptions, very little fear of consequence or repercussion. Combine that with an inflated sense of entitlement and you end up with little monsters.

People today are too sensitive (not good). It was much better back in the day. So much more fun.
