Back Country Life

I realized that if I want to move out of the city and live in a little house on my own bit of wilderness, I need to start planning now. I dream of a quiet life far away from people with a few rescued kitty poof-poofs to keep me company.

But the reality can be difficult. I'm here, I know.

Tired of living in Vancouver in an old character building with hardwood floors and tenants above an no soundproofing. Luckily I have my kitty so I am grateful for that. A little shack in the country would be heaven after 26 years of noise.

You and everyone else

Beyond the financial planning, you will need to condition yourself for such a life. You will need a vehicle and you will need to know how to fix it and how to drive in mud and snow and off-road. You will be relying on it all the time. You will have to plan all your meals and anticipate your needs so you can limit your trips into town to once a month or less (the drive in and back and all the driving around to get everything done will take all day). You will need to be able to fix your electrical, plumbing, furnace, fridge, etc and have the tools to do so. Not that it's impossible to get professionals to do it but they won't be available for emergency jobs and they will be very expensive (only guy in town and you have to pay for travel costs). You will have to get along with your neighbours even if they are horribly bigoted and narrow-minded - in an emergency, they may be your only hope. You will have to renounce any "city" wants you might have. Things like movies, restaurant meals, exotic food of any kind, left-of-center values, all forms of art, intellectual conversations, a variety of literature, cafes, good coffee/tea, decent internet (possibly any internet at all), radio. Owning and knowing how to use a gun will be helpful. And don't get too attached to your kitties: coyotes and hawks will eat some of them.

I don’t need restaurants, bubble tea, waxing. I just want greenery, wind, peace, space. Tired of living amongst concrete.

I really really appreciate this comment. People think its so easy to live in the country. Its a great life, but its a lot of hard work and a big change in lifestyle that most prob are not ready for. That said, as someone who lived in the country and now live in the city, I miss it. I miss it a lot.

Why do cars

Suddenly appear
Every time
You are near?
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you.

I get it now. You’re replying to every post with some random bullshit. You obviously have a very sad life.

Detached Dreams

The joys of city living.
I'd be so happy with no shared walls.
Isolation brought out the worst in a lot of people.
I wrote about shared spaces and smoking, guess it didn't make the esteemed cut.
It's great when you care about how your actions impact others but will probably die of lung cancer.
No good deed.
Living in condensed hectic cities is damaging to our health in so many ways.
Never a moment too soon.

I think it should be:

Why do cats suddenly appear
Every time you are near?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
