Charged at like a rhino

I cannot understand the mentality of someone who would "charge" a disabled person, just like a rhino. Commercial Drive, around 2.30 this afternoon. Three young women totally blocking the sidewalk while walking. I have a huge leg brace and walk with a cane. You looked straight through me and bashed into my left arm. Never mind social distancing, have some common sense. If you had injured me or knocked me down, you better believe I WOULD have called the police and sued you. I wish I could say this has never happened to me or my disabled friends before, but it is distressingly common. If a person is distracted or on their phone, that's bad enough, but to do it deliberately is sociopathic.

I find I have to remind people to keep right or stay further apart out in public. Most of these people are experiencing this as a steep learning curve - age, education, access to information, etc. are some factors. Others are under different influences (mind-altering substances, in some cases) and/or consciously ignoring this protocol (believing that they have some kind of privilege). Definitely call the police or RCMP if they deliberately run into you; that's just not acceptable behaviour. You may find this difficult to accept, but the sad truth is that most people don't have any common sense.

I see this happening all the time. I usually do the Bart Simpson arm swinging thing - if they get in my way and get hit that's their fault. I normally only do it when I'm walking past the 99 that has just let everyone off at the station. They do not know how to keep to the side.

Young people can’t see 2 feet in front of their face. Being raised with manners helps.

I noticed.
Two years ago was in a really bad accident (4 months in a rehab clinic) on crutches and could hardly move, but the doctors wanted me to keep moving.
Young guys and men would always hold the door open for me, girls and women will never hold a door for a guy.

As someone who has autoimmune related mobility issues and walks with a cane (not elderly), I feel you and have been through the same situations. I know folks are going through a lot of extra mental noise right now and aren't being very considerate. I find that mouthing off ("Excuse me, can you share the sidewalk?", "Please make some space for other people." Or if you're feeling sassy "Don't get too close. I bite!") and/or using my cane to make space for myself helps a lot. People get embarrassed when they trip over it. Not encouraging violence, just a little shock to increase situational awareness.
