Energy...fading...

I have started eating peanut butter and jam sandwiches for dinner with increasing frequency. This is not a good sign, I just don't care enough or don't have the energy to make a real dinner. What do you do when everything feels like a chore? When nothing gives you pleasure or enjoyment, when it feels like the juice is not worth the squeeze? I'm not having any fun.

I’m on Mr. Noodles. At least I add broccoli.

Everything is going to be all right

These are not normal times, and it is normal to feel low energy.

Your body and brain may be going into time out because your feelings are calling out to be felt. No need to “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” or do anything to get out of this rut. Just feel. That is your most important job right now.

And if you should get to a point where you desire a mild upgrade to your dinner sammys, google “gourmet PB&J.” A quick search had me drooling over a grilled PB&J with bacon, apple, and pomegranate... your name is all over it, my friend! Baby steps for the win.

Seek out a mental health professional.
It's best to deal with it as early as possible... but for it festers and completely consumes you

PBandJ is an honourable meal. Any day, every day, all day. Nightime, morning, lunch.
to answer the question, if you have the money to, protein shakes. milk, frozen fruit, yogurt, 1 banana, 1 scoop protein.
salad. lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, avocado.
pasta. 8-10 minutes. add sauce.
egg sandwiches. boil eggs. peel. add mayo and bread.
potstickers. oil and water. boil. eat.
fish taco's. bake frozen battered fish. chop avacado's, tomatoes, cilantro, lime. mix tartar sauce and siracha, tortilla's.

Are you kidding? I am psych ward out patient and can not get proper mental health support right now. Please do tell us, those who are in the system, where this magical mental health is. 170 od's last month highlights just how little people like us can get help right now.

Hey pal

It's okay to feel run down by all of this. Congrats on making sure you are still eating, and different food groups to boot!
I'm going to suggest that it sounds like you are courting burnout and need to activate your parasympathetic nervous system before your adrenals take you down. This means soft and gentle with yourself, and turning to the things that give you joy - whether that's a walk somewhere pretty, favourite song or treat, whatever stimulates your senses and feels like gentleness. Soothe until you start to feel your energy come back - maybe in the form of dinner inspiration!

Diet and exercise strongly affect mood.
Conjure up a positive thought, eat healthy, go for a walk.
I'm not being derivative - I'm serious, all those things really help.

How is your diet? Enough dairy, protein, vitamins, minerals?

Everyone in my family who is "mentally ill" eats a strange diet. Some don't eat vegetables (and don't eat a lot of meat to compensate), some don't drink milk.

It's pretty much required to eat fish, or to get adequate omega3 somehow, without getting too much omega6.
