Hey. Wondering

Is anyone else out there having trouble with responding to ads on Craigslist Are you finding alot are scams. Everything Cars for sale Apts for rent Looking for musicians Rides shares Jobs even They seem good at first your chatting about meeting them but then they disappear , or they give you some crazy reason why you can see what for sale or its located on some remote island somewhere. Or they seem to forget about the original ad and just try to chat you up. You call someone about an apt ,you go to the apt and the owner says its rented, i had just spoken with him 15 mins earlier on the phone. An ad is posted for a van I responded right after posting. Right after Its already sold Timing ? Scammy ? Frustrating :(

Don't use Craigslist ever! Just don't use for all the reasons you listed.

I stopped using it when it became clearly totally corrupted. Unfortunately that’s what happens when a website doesn’t have the requisite controls in place to deal with the volume that it generates.

Scam city. $500 deposit on a puppy that hasn't even been born. Puppy mill situations. It's rather a horror show.

Craiglist be Craiglisting

There are a lot of scams. There are ways to spot them, I won't list those ways because you probably already know them. But the best thing to do is flag the post. It will be pulled immediately.

(I've been on the receiving end of this gone wrong, though. I used to advertise as a dogwalker and some jealous dimwit flagged every single post I made).

Gave Up

Few people show up. Or if you email them they don't get back. Flake. Sell the item and then leave the ad up for 3 months, so people waste their time emailing for something already gone.... so I always submit the email to a spammer service. And their email gets hit 50 times a day.
Now, I just give anything to the local thrift shop or leave it out for the binners....NOT Big Brothers or Value Village, because BB sells to VV and VV is a for profit US corporation.

scams teach us

They teach us that people are bad, and that mistrust and skepticism are totally warranted until a person has proven otherwise. I am not saying be mean to them, because the world has had enough assholes and then some, but just, in your head, keep them behind a mental plexiglas.

I don’t know if UsedVancouver still exists, but UsedVictoria is super popular in Vic, and loads of people use it. Yeah, sometimes setting up a sale or trying to buy something is a pain (my peeve is people who call, beg you to hold something for two days because they need to find a way to transport an item, and then show up late and change their mind, even though you had to tell the twenty other people who called after this Bozo that you were holding it and when you call those people back, they’ve purchased something else instead. I don’t hold for anyone unless they’re willing to pay in advance (however, I’d recommend buyers DON’T transfer money to anyone they’ve never met... I’m honest and won’t accept an Interac transfer until the item is actually in the purchaser’s possession, but there are too many scammers out there who’ll take the money and run. I will hold an item for a couple of hours without a deposit because hey, people work or need to get here, etc, or if they give me a great sob story about why they so desperately want the item (those ones usually follow through) but I’ve been burned too many times to hold something for days. Also, i find both purchasing and buying are easier near mid month or end of the month, but on or after each, not so much.
