I have a stinky roommate. I wish he believed in deodorant. And showers. And soap. And doing laundry more than once a month. It's so gross.

Dan offers some advice on where she might find it.

... are reasonable, soap is somewhat reasonable, deodorant is completely cultural. Doing laundry is also reasonable.
But I have to ask, is he healthy? I've heard that some celebrities like Justin Bieber stink to high heaven because they like their own culture =]

That’s your choice. I know it’s uncomfortable to have to tell someone that they’re smelly, but you have the right to enjoy your space every bit as much as he does. Speak up!

Spray his things with deodorizer, to keep the foulness at bay?
His stank is unacceptable

Define your boundaries and if he doesn't get it, move him on. Its the best thing for him too because its his opportunity for growth & maturity.

...and you don't have the cajones to call him out over something that clearly affects your life??
Meanwhile, various Vancouver namby-pamby's regularly whine about critical matters like urban motorcycle noise and people smoking tobacco in the privacy of their homes..
Got cajones

Lots of prodding. Believe me. Trying to be very kind about it, to encourage rather than discourage. I forsee, years later, his living in a dumpster unaware of how he got there. How is it that nobody in public says anything, or maybe they do? I cannot see any advancement of professional aspirations or mature social life when nobody can get within three feet due to such foul odour, so contrary to their rather amicable personality.

I haven't lived with a "roommate" for 13 years and will never trade sanity for a few bucks saved.

It's not "Vancouver namby-pamby's", it's Universal caring about others beyond self.
I'm sorry it's so difficult to grasp concepts of being a human in the midst of a global pandemic no less.

You could use him to add authentic ambience when you are watching historical dramas! Have him stand behind the couch while you are watching The Last Kingdom!
Here's an idea

Rather than telling everyone here on social media about it, why don't you just tell your roommate about it?
