Are we doomed?

As much as I am annoyed with the baby boomers, as we cannot afford property or get livable wages, I suspect that once they leave this rock, our democracy will become entirely eroded. I honestly do not think the next generation takes democracy seriously. They're trying to enact communism instead of targeting the corporations and corporate lobbyists who have invaded our political and legal realms. I am definitely getting ready to leave Canada before it gets to that level. A lot changes in 20-30 years. I doubt that property prices will be good after millenials get what they want finally.

Ironic that they’ve adopted such puritanical controls in an effort to enact communism.

Where will you go? The oligarchy south of the boarder where 1% of the population hold 40% of the nations wealth and use Super PACS to funnel billions to a two party political system that really have more in common than they would like to admit - meaning they're willing to sell out the country to the oligarchs. Canada's corrupt, but it can't be compared to what's happening in the U.S.

Maybe Western Europe? Mixed economies, but taxation and the cost of living is higher, and they look more "communist" to people who claim they don't like communism. The western Europeans have more trust in their political systems/politicians and are willing to take a step back and let them run the place and willing to pay higher taxes for the overall benefit of the society. Does that sound like communism to you?

The developing world? Don't like corruption don't go to the developing world. Many of those countries remain poor because of corruption and their oligarchy's.

Please tell me where you plan to go? I'm genuinely curious and not looking to argue.

You could stick around your country and try to make it better?

As a baby boomer who owns very little, living so long has taught me that the most important thing at this time of life is to have good health.

The fools who fly to Arizona with fat pensions are quaking in their boots because deep down they understand that the jig is up, the economy is built on sand and property prices are set to drop like a stone.

But for them, blaming Trump for everything acts as a salve on their rotten consciences.

The pendulum swing left and right. It's only natural a generation that's been exposed to conservative economics for the entirety of their lifetimes starts to look “communist” to a conservative person.

Yes we're doomed. Climate change will lead to a collapse of many economies followed by ecological collapse, that will lead to societal collapse. We're in the 6th mass extinction as we speak. 50% of insect species, and THREE BILLION birds have disappeared since 1970. 40% of honey-bee colonies have died in the United States alone.

Your issues with politics in the next 20 -30 years are rather silly compared to what's just over the horizon for this world and it shows how out of touch or in denial you are. It doesn't really matter where you will go, they're you are with The Holocene Extinction.

You’re young so I won’t blame you for not fully understanding the entire situation. Baby boomers are not to blame for everything. Many of us (MANY) were the ones doing the protesting and getting things changed to allow for all of the things you now take for granted. We’re not all wealthy. Lots of us are now poor seniors because instead of buying into the whole corporate schmozzle (I think I just made up a new word), we embraced living simply, accepting everyone’s differences, and not selling out. The fact that we happened to be alive during a time before the rest of the world discovered our gorgeous place is not our fault. If you’d been alive then, you’d have bought your own place too! I feel terrible for young people now, and as a senior I have many young people in my life. I wish I could help them to weather this time, but unfortunately I’m one of those people who embraced living simply, and now I’m barely surviving in the same world that you are. It’s a whole lot easier to struggle when you’re a young person, than it is to be a vulnerable senior without money. Relax with the “boomer” blaming, and open your eyes and mind to the whole picture. Please.

We're just as corrupt, if not more so. They just legalized weed and kept their liquor stores going hard here so we'd all be more passive about it. As a nation we started to become rather passive and lame after they took the the Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow away from us. If we kept going on that we would have had a huge space force in the 80's.
