Canadian government and high school

I think there is a parallel between the two. We were afraid of the people in authority, had to listen to them, but would act up and test their power a lot of the time. I think the Canadian government is about as powerful as our high school administrators (teachers, principle, etc.). **yawn**

Always monitor those in authority

My high school vice principal (in the 80s) got fired for saying that he wished more of the female students wore skirts because he "liked looking at chicks' legs".
But he never showed up in blackface.

Who challenges the government ? not even comedians. Political Satire is dead in this country.

Political satire's not dead in Canada, it's just pulling it's punches while we deal with the pandemic. Because we're nice.

That said: While I'm giving Doug Ford credit for making a strong, sincere effort at being a leader during this crisis, I can't help but be humourously weirded out by his Covid briefings.

He always has 3 or 4 of his ministers positioned rather theatrically behind him, standing completely motionless like statues and staring at the camera with dire intensity. One of the women who's usually there has very big eyes and does not even blink! Like a frickin' horror movie or something.
They remind me of the ruling council of some cult that's trying to frighten everyone into submission.
Or maybe a group of scientists with an update about the giant asteroid that's hurtling towards us. (Watch it with the sound off, you'll get what I mean.)

Anyways, it's just too dramatic for me, so it makes me laugh, even though I know how serious the situation is.
I guess the stress is getting to me.
